Excursions in Ardèche, Gard and Cevennes

To visit a region with a guide is the first step to becoming intimate with that region. The opportunity to take advantage of inherent local and historical knowledge allows the participants to look at the region more in depth as opposed to strictly a touristy perspective. Gain insight to this region as it provides you a different view of the things you will discover or rediscover. It really opens up the opportunity to explore and will make your journey even more interesting. The Southern Ardèche, the Gard and the Cevennes spread scenic views of lovely and seasonal landscapes, but in themselves have a rich culture and history. Dolmens, caves and avens (potholes), traces of prehistoric occupation, the religious wars and of the Roman period are some examples of sites to see. The typical southern French vegetation (Garrigue) in the Cevennes is home to more mountainous oriented vegetation which can also be seen in agriculture: olive groves and chestnut groves for instance show this difference.
